LAUNDRY ROOMS

For me, the livability and functionality of my home is most important. Don’t get me wrong, I love making my home attractive and inviting, and here on our “Welcome Home Black Hills” website we plan to continually look at some decorating  ideas, but during this segment I wanted to feature a practical home space, the laundry room.  The guys who film our show laugh at me because I’m always most interested in the laundry room and mud room when we go in to videotape a home!  What’s the design like?  How functional are these spaces?  What have they done to make the laundry room a pleasant place to spend one's time, because, as those of us who are the “laundry queens” of the family know, you spend lots of time in the laundry room!  And, as I tour so many homes, I’ve seen all different set-ups for laundry rooms – spacious, unfinished lower level laundry rooms, (like mine happens to be), beautiful laundry rooms that are finished as nicely as the entire home, small laundry spaces that basically take up the same space as a closet, and my personal favorite, the additional laundry area with stackable washer/dryer set-up in the master closet – talk about convenience!  But probably the most important questions that gets asked about the laundry room when it comes to selling a home is this; "Is the laundry room on the main level of the home?”  Just something to keep in mind if you're designing or remodeling your home. You’ll spend plenty of time in this little talked about space, so you might as well put some thought into it! Next time we’ll delve into laundry room make-overs!
